Barrington Scope and Sequence Maps
Standards are only a small component of the curriculum in Barrington. Educators work collaboratively to develop unit plans that incorporate research-based, high yield instructional strategies from the work of Robert Marzano and John Hattie. The curriculum development process builds strongly upon the research of Rick DuFour and Michael Fullan as it relates to professional learning communities and systems improvement. Following the TPACK model, teachers incorporate technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge into each unit. Units of study build upon the research of Grant Wiggins' and Jay McTighe's work Understanding by Design. To provide a deeper understanding of the ongoing curriculum work and revision process, BPS will continue to add curriculum map and curriculum unit revisions to the document section of each subject area on a regular basis. Updated maps and units will be dated with the most recent revision. To date, updates have be added to both the math and English Language Arts documents (2.15.14).
